How will Artificial Intelligence apps effect Job interviews?

Updated: Nov 8, 2023

There is no stopping AI in becoming a regular fixture in our lives. We need to think about how we include it for our benefit. Knowledge is power as they say and we can't underestimate how far it may go.

Recruitment is an easy target in many ways, but job interviews may only be effected in part. It is still important people use normal human instinct to consider applicants at a certain point of the process, however there are many ways AI will be used before the face to face interview process.

AI is already being used for the following;

1. Automated resume screening: AI-powered systems can analyze resumes and applications to identify relevant skills, qualifica

tions, and experience. This helps streamline the initial screening process and allows recruiters to focus on the most promising candidates.

2. Video interviews: AI can be used to conduct and analyze video interviews. Automated video interview platforms can assess factors such as facial expressions, tone of voice, and body language to provide insights on candidate suitability. This can help employers make more informed decisions during the hiring process.

3. Chatbot interviews: AI chatbots can be used to conduct initial interviews or pre-screening assessments. These chatbots can ask candidates questions and evaluate their responses based on predefined criteria. This helps save time and resources for recruiters.

4. Skill assessments: AI-powered platforms can assess candidates' skills and knowledge through online tests or simulations. These assessments can provide objective evaluations of candidates' abilities, helping employers make more informed decisions.

5. Bias reduction: AI has the potential to reduce bias in job interviews by focusing on objective criteria and removing human biases. However, it's important to ensure that AI systems are designed and trained in a way that avoids perpetuating biases present in the data they are trained on.

It's worth noting that while AI can enhance certain aspects of job interviews, it is unlikely to completely replace human involvement. Human judgment, intuition, and interpersonal skills are still crucial in assessing cultural fit, soft skills, and complex problem-solving abilities. AI is more likely to augment the interview process by providing additional insights and efficiency.
